How is born your passion to start cycling?

I had a great need to physical activity, and this was one fundamental reason to start cycling. The wide range of possibilities to move freely in our surrounding outdoors it´s simply unique.
Another decisive factor for such a decision was the one that our hotel is located directly on the famous “Pustertal” cycle path. In addition, our valley offers lots of trails which vary between easier one across the country and more difficult one up to mountain meadows and alpine pastures. Day trips to Bruneck, Cortina or Lienz are loved by many people of different age & capacities.
Since 2018 our company and our guests benefit from my knowledge gained from my passion in cycling. We exactly know the needs of our guests and are best prepared to satisfy them with precious advice.

Which bike do you have?

It was a very difficult choice. My wish was and still is experimenting all the possibilities that the territory offers and for this reason I bought an Orbea Gain roadbike and a Norco Revolver mountainbike.


Why has your hotel decided to specialize in cycling holidays?

For bicycle lovers, Dobbiaco and the Dolomites represent a real paradise made up of numerous mountain bike routes that cross woods and valleys, flank rivers, streams and lakes and countless tours from the flatter ones to the on the most famous and suggestive peaks and passes. Therefore, we decided to offer all the services which guests are searching for when they pass a cycling holiday here in Dobbiaco at Hotel Union.

Which tour is your favorite one?

I really enjoy cycling from Dobbiaco to Cortina. Sometimes I ride along the street on my roadbike other times I prefer using my mountain bike. Last one I use it when I choose the cycle path that follows the route of the old railway. An impressive tour! It leads past two lakes (Dobbiaco & Landro) with a clear view of the Three Peaks. On the descent from the Gemärkpass (Cimabanche) to Cortina, it passes across the historically significant Peutelstein ruin. A very requested but eventful bike tour.
